Permanent Part Time - 21 Hours per week

Salary: $2,091 to $2,340 per fortnight (based on 42 hours per fortnight) plus superannuation

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications and experience.

About Us

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is characterised by bushland comprising national park, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role

This position reports to the Procurement Manager. The role involves a large amount of customer service and a professional approach when working with internal and external customers. Council staff rely heavily on the cost effectiveness, quality and timely delivery of goods and materials and effective ongoing contract management. This service is vital to the effectiveness of Council’s operations.

The role of Tenders and Contracts Officer has these major components:

• Provide guidance to the organisation on all Procurement Procedures, Tenders Determination and Tendering Procedures and ensuring tenders are advertised and opened and evaluated in accordance with the relevant legislation. Develop council’s social procurement agenda, encompassing sustainability; indigenous inclusion; disability inclusion; modern slavery; and local support

• Manage a standardised approach across Council for contractor performance reviews and ensure the database is kept up to date

• Provide support and training to the organisation as required for Council’s electronic procurement system, Technology One.

About you

We are looking for a pro-active, enthusiastic person who has excellent analytical and organisational skills and with a commitment to high levels of customer service.

Proven experience in all facets of the Procurement function, including supplier evaluation and selection, tendering and contract preparation, and contract management is required for this role, along with Local Government experience.

Territory qualifications or equivalent professional experience in Purchasing and Supply is required for this position.
