Salary: $2,211 to $2,466 per fortnight, plus superannuation and an RDO per fortnight. 

Appointed salary in this range will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience.

Enjoy working on a variety of outdoor tasks in the beautiful surrounds of Hornsby Shire Council. Have the opportunity to work in a team to maintain and service parks, sporting facilities and other infrastructure.

About us

Hornsby Shire is located on Sydney's upper north shore, approximately 25 kilometres north of the Sydney CBD. Known as the ‘Bushland Shire’, our local government area is surrounded by bushland comprising national parks, major waterways, natural reserves and rural landscape. The rest of the Shire combines urban, rural and open spaces.

About the role

You will be required to drive and work in one of our roadside crews, maintaining nature strip areas and park facilities. Also assisting other teams within the Parks Service Unit and other sections of council.

You may be required to help other crews with their day to day work, including but not limited to mowing oval surrounds, cleaning amenities and servicing parks and other infrastructure within the shire.

You will be required to drive and maintain Council trucks, operate ride-on mowers and other small plant and equipment.

About you

You will need to prioritise competing demands and meet deadlines as set by the Parks Service Unit Supervisors. Good physical fitness is important as the person is required to carry out manual labouring tasks.

A high standard of service is necessary as the person is required to take appropriate action in response to a variety of demands. Good listening and communication skills are essential to ensure directions and instructions are carried out safely, promptly and accurately.
