Casual Aqua/Group Fitness Instructor

Salary: $65.69 per hour (penalty rates of 25% for Saturday and 50% for Sunday and public holidays), plus  superannuation. Please note that Junior rates will apply for persons 18 years and under.

About us

The Hornsby Aquatic and Leisure Centre (Hornsby Pool) is a state-of-the-art facility. Some of its key features include, heated eight lane 50 metre outdoor pool for lap swimming outdoor seating for 500 spectators with a spectacular view of Old Mans Valley; a heated, ten metre by 25 metre indoor pool for learn-to-swim activities; a leading edge gymnasium.

HSC also runs the Galston Aquatic Centre (Galston Pool) which is in its final stages of refurbishment and will be ready to run aqua programs in the 25m 6 lane pool when it re-opens. The facility sits back in beautiful bushland next to Hayes Park and near the community hub of Galston Village.

About the role

To be part of a team responsible for providing aqua aerobic classes at the Aquatic facility for allocated groups, local schools and the general public. The major components of the role include;

• Conduct aqua aerobic and/or fitness group classes for allocated user groups
• Prepare daily class plans
• Ensure individual progress within classes is maintained
• Discuss progress and provide feedback to class participants
• Prepare equipment for lessons and pack away after classes are finished
• Ensure essential qualifications for the role are current and valid at all times, and take necessary action to ensure qualifications remain current and valid
• Assist Centre Management with the marketing of the aqua program with a positive proactive attitude towards members

About you

The Aqua Instructor role requires a pro-active, enthusiastic person who has an understanding of working in an aquatic environment. Your good quality customer service and interpersonal skills along with your ability to work in a team environment and undertake allocated tasks within the agreed deadlines is essential to the success of this role.

A high level of physical fitness is required as you will demonstrate, conduct and supervise patrons in the correct application of aqua aerobic techniques.
